Lake Te Anau is about 2km from our front door and we have wonderful
views of the surrounding mountains. There are some lovely walking/hiking
trails nearby and several excellent trout-fishing rivers. Please
visit here
for more information on walks in Southland and Fiordland.
Milford Sound is a must do while visiting Fiordland - The HIGHWAY
TO MILFORD SOUND is one of the most spectacular scenic drives in
the world. Although the 119-kilometre distance from Te Anau to Milford
can be covered in two hours there are just so many viewpoints and
side trips on the way that a full day should be allowed for the
journey.
There are several options we can recommend including taking a small,
personalized tour. Alternatively a combined scenic flight, cruise
and coach tour of the region gives the best of all possible worlds.
Doubtful Sound is another worthwhile day trip by boat and coach or by kayak.
There are numerous other sightseeing options in Fiordland such as either guided walks or on your own on the Milford Track or Kepler Track to explore the forest and bird life, sea and lake boat trips, breathtaking flights by helicopters or floatplane or stay overnight in the Fjords travelling by motorboat or Kayak.
You may also be interested in visiting the Te Anau-au Caves. The three-hour caves trip departs by boat from the centre of Te Anau Township throughout the day.
Several highly respected Fishing Guides live in the Te Anau region
and we are able to put you in touch with one if you need some professional
advice on the local fishing conditions. You might also like to visit

We recommend pre-booking sightseeing trips to ensure you get the
option best suited to your needs and we are very happy to arrange
any sightseeing reservations. Please contact us to book all your
sightseeing arrangements.
"Our whole family had a great two days down in Fiordland
and loved the stay we had in your home. Thank you so much for
your warm hospitality - in both senses of the word! We really
enjoyed getting to know you a little. Thanks to Jeff for his expertly
cooked breakfasts and for showing us the deer etc. We've had a
fantastic holiday and will definitely be returning to New Zealand
to see more. We will be sure to contact you if we are coming to
Te Anau." - Helen, Craig, Tristan and Duncan
